MCLA was founded as The North Adams Normal School in 1894. It became the State Teachers College at North Adams in 1932, North Adams State College in 1960 and Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts in 1997. The first yearbook was published in 1911 and now all of the college's available yearbooks have been digitized and can be viewed on the Internet Archive. Yearbooks published in 1955, 1966, 1978, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2009 and 2013 have no title. No yearbooks for 1932, 1935 or 1952 were available for digitization. No yearbooks were published from 1996 through 2003.
